What is WEBP to JPG?

How to use WEBP to JPG

Format notes
- WEBP: A modern web format that is usually smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality and supports transparency. Supported by all current major browsers.
- JPEG: The same format as JPG (the two extensions are interchangeable). Best for photos, not for logos or screenshots with sharp text.
Tips for better results
Use this when an app, form or older program refuses WEBP files. JPG is accepted almost everywhere.
A worked example
You saved a picture from a website and your photo editor does not recognise the .webp file. Convert it to JPG and open the result anywhere. Transparent areas become white.
If something goes wrong
- The file will not load. Check that it really is a WEBP file. Some downloads are renamed with the wrong extension. Try opening it in a browser first.
- Only a still image came out of an animated WEBP. Only a single frame is converted, so the animation is lost. Use a video or animation tool to keep motion.
Privacy and limits
